MARMIL was established in 1978 in Heraklion Crete by Ioannis Vitsaras.
The experienced personnel of MARMIL, having a deep knowledge of the materials, in conjunction with the modern marble processing equipment, is able to fulfill the most demanding projects of the domestic and international market.
MARMIL, always aiming to provide products and services of the highest quality, participates in the most well-known international exhibitions, keeps up with all the new trends, invests in the expertise of its personnel and in up to date machinery equipment, and controls the production of its products from the mining to the final stage of processing at the factory.

HISTORY
1978 | Establishment of an individual marble processing company by Ioannis Vitsaras.
1989 | Conversion of the company to a Limited Liability Company namely "LEFKA MARMARA LTD".
1992 | Participation of the company for the first time in major projects such as Elounda Beach Hotels in Elounda Crete, Kalimera Kriti in Sissi Crete, Kernos Beach in Malia Crete and Robinson Club Lyttos Beach in Anissaras, Crete, which significantly contributed to the company’s development.
1994 | The company for the first time installs its factory, on a privately owned area, cited in the Industrial Area of Heraklion.
1997 | Conversion of the company to a public limited company namely "LEFKA MARMARA SA".
2000 | Construction of a marble slab processing plant, with the installation of a gangsaw and a slab polishing machine for the production of marble slabs..
2008 | Manos Vitsaras and Stefania Vitsara, children of Ioannis, take over the administration of the company.
2009 | Purchase of an area of 26,000 sq.m. in the Industrial Area of Alagni, for the future construction of a new marble block plant.
2010 | Acquisition of a marble quarry in the prefecture of Rethymnon.
Entry for the first time in European markets.
Exclusive distribution agreement with the leading Spanish Industry of quartz surfaces and artificial marbles, COMPAC S.A., for the exclusive import and commercial representation of its products in Greece.
2011 | Renaming the company to "MARMIL S.A." and replacing the old logo with the new one.
2012 | First exports to the Middle East.
2017 | First exports to the Far East.
2018 | Cooperation agreement with the well-known Spanish Industry of porcelain surfaces, GRESPANIA S.A., for the commercial representation of its products in Greece.
Submission of the new company’s investment plan in the Greek development law for the construction of a new marble slab processing plant in the Industrial Area of Alagni.
Redesign of the business commercial identity and logo’s development.
2023 | Completion and operation of new marble slab processing plant in Industrial Area of Alagni.

INDUSTRIAL FACILITIES - QUARRIES
Our facilities in the Industrial Area of Heraklion, Crete, include the Department of Slab Production, the Department of Project Management, the Warehouse of Slabs, the Warehouse of marble Blocks, the Exhibition Hall, the Administration Offices, the Accounting Department and the Commercial Department.
Our facilities have modern mechanical equipment, capable of meeting the needs of the most demanding projects.
Modernization and expansion of our building facilities is in progress in the Industrial Area of Heraklion, as well as the construction of a new modern marble slab production plant, just outside the city of Heraklion, in a privately owned area of 26,000 sq.m., at the Industrial Area of Alagni.
Our company maintains a privately-owned quarry of greyish-green marble in the prefecture of Rethymnon.
PRODUCTS
Greek marbles are the main pillar of MARMIL’s product catalog. From the well-known white marbles of Greece, such as VOLAKAS, KYKNOS, THASSOS, NAXOS, DIONYSOS, NESTOS marble to the colored marbles SHEILA GRAY, GREEN TINOS, BEIGE of IOANNINA and our VERDE CANDIA are an excellent marble collage, capable to meet the requirements of each project on the domestic and international market.
The wide range of MARMIL's natural stones, complement marbles and granites imported from all over the world. In addition, based on the continuously increasing market demands for new materials and always aiming at fulfilling our customers' specific needs, we have come in agreement, with the top European brands in quartz (quartz COMPAC) and porcelain surfaces (COVERLAMTOP by GRESPANIA), for exclusive imports and distributions of their products in Greece.
PROJECTS – INTERNATIONAL MARKET
In a short time since its establishment, MARMIL managed to gain the confidence of the local market in Crete and then to undertake important projects in the rest of Greece.
Today, our company has gained a clear export orientation and has gradually expanded its export activities across Europe and several countries in Middle and Far East.
Our long-lasting experience in the acquisition and delivery of major projects, combined with the deep knowledge of the materials and the modern marble processing equipment we own, enables us to fulfill the most demanding designs, with absolute respect to the quality and delivery time specifications.

MARMIL is the exclusive importer and distributor of COMPAC quartz surfaces in Greece from 2010. COMPAC is the Spanish worldwide leading company in high quality decorative surfaces from 1975.

- The Greenquard Indoor Air Quality Certified, issued by the Greenguard Environmental Institute, for products’ low chemical emissions.
- The NSF certification, by the National Health and Safety US organization, meaning that COMPAC’s products are safe and hygienic materials for use in direct contact with food and foodstuffs of all Kinds.

- Compliance with the European Regulation CE 1935/2004 for objects intended for contact with food.

MARMIL is official distributor and importer of GRESPANIA surfaces in Greece. GRESPANIA. which was founded in 1976, is a very well-known ceramic manufacturing company located in Spain.
The company’s products boast both innovative technical properties as well as innovative cutting-edge designs. The Coverlam top porcelain collection, ideal for kitchen countertops, tables or cabinets, is made with natural raw materials that offers superior mechanical and aesthetic properties. The collection has 10 years warranty.
